ANDREW HARDY
Andrew Hardy is a painter who lives and works in London. Influenced by 20th century abstract Modernist painting, his work uses an abstract language to explore geometry, repetition, materiality, and chance.
"I try to make paintings that draw the viewer in, to question and enjoy their form and materiality. The question of content is not in the foreground. I don’t feel any urge to paint scenes, situations or likenesses of people. Or to depict things, tell stories or make statements. The paintings are their own subject matter and it is better to let viewers find their own associations. Often the work does not have any meaning, although I do aim for it to be meaningful which is a different thing."
Andrew studied painting at Camberwell College of Arts, London and since then he has exhibited in London and Paris. His paintings can be found in private collections in Europe and the US.
